Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Wipe or Factory Data Reset the Phone Remotely Using Samsung Dive

Nobody wants to lost their phone, neither you nor me. But, we can't control what will happen tomorrow. Due to this reason, do some preparations to anticipate when your phone is lost or stolen is something that you should consider to do. One of the possible way to do so is by creating a Samsung account which will allow you to use Samsung Dive services to find or track your phone.

Aside from finding and tracking your lost or stolen phone, you can also use an option available inside Samsung Dive to wipe or factory data reset your phone remotely. This of course will useful if you don't want the people who stole your phone or the people who find your lost phone knowing all the data saved there.


How to wipe or factory data reset remotely using Samsung Dive?
As your note, doing these steps will delete the data, so do it at your own risk. Well, below are the complete steps to do:
  1. On your PC or laptop, open Internet Browser then navigate to the samsungdive.com.
  2. Login using your Samsung account associated with your device.
  3. Click Wipe my mobile.
  4. To wipe the phone go to the step #4 and to do factory data reset go to the step #5.
  5. Click Wipe the removable storage then choose which the removable storage you wish to wiped. You can choose external memory or SIM card or both of them.
  6. Click Factory data reset to delete all saved data in the phone. You should note that doing this will make you no longer be able using Samsung Dive to wipe the removable storage, and all deleted data cannot be recovered.
  7. Tick the box next to I agree to terms and conditions.
  8. Type the password in the password field then click Wipe button to start the process.

For the record, if you choose to wipe the storage then all the data saved inside them will be permanently deleted, while if you choose to factory data reset function then all the data on your phone will be permanently deleted and you'll no longer be able to use the Find My Mobile services with your phone.

    I have lost my Samsung S3 and it ran on Android 4.2.

    I wanted to know what is the difference between 'remove data from external storage' and factory setting.
    Beside which among these two options will help me in removing the data present on my sd card which got stolen with the phone ?
