Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Set LED Indicator in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Samsung Galaxy S5 is equipped with a LED indicator or notification light which is located at the top left corner above the screen. When the options within the LED indicator menu are enabled, your phone will light up or blink the LED indicator to notify you of missed notifications, low battery, when the device is being charged or is fully charged, or when the device is recording a voice while the screen is off.

How to set the LED Indicator?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Sound and display section and then tap Display .
  3. Scroll the screen to the very bottom.
  4. Tap LED indicator.
  5. Here you'll be provided with the following options:
    • Charging: check the box next to this option to enable it and make your phone lights up the red LED when the device is connected to a charger and is charging while the screen is off. When the battery has been fully charged, the phone will light up the green LED.
    • Low battery: check the box next to this option to enable it and make your phone blinks the red LED when the battery level is low while the screen is off.
    • Notifications: check the box next to this option to enable it and make your phone blinks the blue LED per 10 seconds when you have missed notifications, e.g: missed calls, unread messages, or app notifications while the screen is off.
    • Voice recording: check the box next to this option to enable it and make your phone blinks the blue LED per 1-2 seconds when the voice recording is still in the progress while the screen is off. FYI, the voice recording option only available if you have enabled the notifications option.

As a note, the LED indicator won't blink blue when you have notifications of an app if you have set your phone to hide notifications for that app. Also, some third-party apps may have their own LED indicator settings so that you may find your phone glows or flashes the LED indicator with other color.
