Since your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge lets you retrieve contacts from various sources, you might have the same contacts saved in the different storage location, e.g: a contact contains with phone number saved in the device storage and the same contact contains with email address saved in your Google account. In this case, you can set Contacts app to merge those contacts so they will be displayed as a single contact. It will help you to stop Contacts app from displaying duplicate contacts and manage your contacts with more easily.

How to merge contacts?
You can do so by using several methods. As the example, we'll merge contacts by using two different methods: from the contacts list and from a contact's detail screen.

Method #1: From the contacts list
This method lets you merge contacts for multiple contacts at once. But, it will only work to merge contacts who have the same name. You can use the following steps to merge contacts from the contacts list:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. Tap More at the top right and then select Merge contacts.
  3. Here, your phone will display all contacts that can be merged and group them by name.
  4. Tap the required contacts you want to merge, or tap All at the top left corner of the screen to select all contacts.
  5. Tap Merge at the top right.
  6. The selected contacts will be merged.

Method #2: From a contact's detail screen
This method lets you merge a contact with any other contacts you like, even if they don't have the same name. You can use the following steps to merge contacts from a contact's detail screen:
  1. Open Contacts app.
  2. Tap the required contact you want to merge.
  3. Tap More at the top right and then select Link contacts.
  4. Here, your phone will give you some suggested contacts that can be merged. Tap one or some of suggested contacts, or you can select any other contacts you like to merge.
  5. Tap Link at the top right.
  6. The selected contacts will be merged.
